Cost and quotes

How much does artificial turf cost in Lexington?
Most installations run $7 to $14 per square foot. A typical 500 square foot back yard lands between $4,000 and $7,000. See the full pricing page for ranges by project type.
Are estimates free?
Yes, and there is no obligation. We measure, check grade and drainage, discuss turf options and give you a written price.
Why do quotes vary so much between companies?
Almost never the turf, which is a commodity with visible pricing. Differences come from excavation depth, base depth and crew hours — the things you cannot see once the job is done.
Do you offer financing?
Ask when you call. Availability changes and we would rather tell you what is actually on the table that week.
Does the price include removing my old grass?
Yes. Every estimate includes excavation and haul-away. If a competing quote does not mention removal, ask.

Installation

How long does installation take?
Most residential lawns take one to two days. Putting greens run two to four. Commercial work is scheduled per site.
Can turf go over existing grass?
No. Living sod decomposes underneath and the surface settles unevenly within two seasons.
How deep is the base?
Three to four inches of compacted aggregate, installed in lifts with each layer compacted before the next.
Do I need to be home during installation?
For the initial walkthrough, ideally. After that, no.
Can turf be installed in winter?
Yes. Base work is unaffected by cold and scheduling is easier than in spring.
Will you damage my sprinkler system?
We locate and cap or reroute irrigation as part of the work. Tell us about any system at the estimate.

Appearance and performance

Will it look fake?
Not with the right product and installation. The tells are single-tone colour, visible seams and edges that do not sit flush — all avoidable.
Does it drain in heavy rain?
Yes, when the base is built for it. Turf drains at over 30 inches per hour, but Kentucky clay does not absorb water, so the base has to carry it away.
Does it get hot in summer?
Warmer than grass in direct sun, similar to composite decking. Shade removes the issue and a rinse cools it in seconds. More here.
Can weeds grow through it?
Not through a properly installed base. They can occasionally seed on top in accumulated leaf debris, which is easy to remove.
How long does it last?
Fifteen to twenty years for quality turf properly installed. Some exceed twenty-five.

Pets and children

Is it safe for dogs?
Yes. Lead-free turf and non-toxic pet infills, and it removes fertiliser, herbicide and grub treatment from the yard entirely.
Will a pet area smell?
Not with permeable pet backing and antimicrobial or zeolite infill. Odour comes from ammonia held in plain silica sand or a base that does not drain.
Will my dog dig it up?
Almost never. It is anchored at every edge with nothing loose to grip.
Is it safe for children?
Yes. For play areas we install shock padding rated to the equipment's fall height, and antimicrobial infill for hygiene.

Maintenance and ownership

What maintenance does it need?
Rinse occasionally, clear leaves, and cross-brush traffic paths once or twice a year. Professional power brooming every two to three years.
How do I clear snow?
Usually let it melt. If you want a path, plastic shovel or broom only — never metal tools or rock salt.
Can it be repaired?
Yes. Seams, ripples, burns and pet damage are all repairable, usually for a few hundred dollars. Repair details.
Will my HOA allow it?
Most Lexington associations have no restriction, some require approval. Check your covenants first.
Does it affect resale value?
A well-installed lawn that looks immaculate year-round is generally an asset. A poor installation is a liability. Quality decides it.
